ABOUT US

''Someone told me one day.“Beauty is important for the soul,” Ever since I ventured into the world of architecture, around 2010, this is what I have been searching for in a new project. Along the way lots of people have helped me understand how beauty, functionality, cost efficiency and sustainability can be reconciled.

That is precisely why I have had this project in mind since I worked in Tanzania, during the summer of 2016. I subscribe to a vision of architecture which is accessible, environmentally conscious, and above all, beautiful. This drive has been inspired by team work, and the possibility to give and learn from the local community. The intensive construction carried out in recent years has only sharpened my focus.

Maji Moto is a place of charming people and landscapes. There is a sense of freedom, which comes from the inhabitants living so closely with nature and it is reflected in their vernacular architecture. This culture has created the ideal setting for experimentation. Together, we will set out on a path of architecture that is rooted in both the past and the future.''

C-re-a.i.d. - Change Research Architecture Innovation  Design -  is  a  non-profit  organization operating in northern Tanzania since 2012.

Through experience and  analysis  we  discovered a rapid changing building culture, poor living situations and the use of unecological materials. We explore the possibilities of architecture to  promote long-term  ecological  and affordable building.

C-re-a.i.d. is convinced that a clean, sustainable and eco-friendly building does not have to be expensive. Through research and creative design and by using local materials and innovative building   techniques,  ecological  and    affordable buildings are built in Tanzania/Zanzibar. We envision a place where architecture is available for everybody to create a sustainable building culture.

Considering the current situation in Tanzania, C-re-aid tasks itself with exploring the possibilities of architecture to promote long-term ecological and affordable building.
