ABOUT MAJIMOTO

Maji Moto is a village located in Arusha, northern Tanzania with a population of about 1200 adults and 800 children.

Due to large scale privatisation of lands, the Maasai were forced to become sedentary and around 1975 a number of people decided to establish the village.

The main sources of income in Maji Moto include agriculture and the keeping of livestock. Therefore, they cannot rely on a fixed salary and they have to live day by day.

Unfortunately, there are no health centres in Maji Moto and the nearest point of medical aid is more that 10 km away. Due to the lack of public transport, having to travel that distance is often a real problem and especially during the rainy season, the village can become inaccessible.

A few years ago, they started building a basic hospital, known as a dispensary, but to this day the project remains unfinished because of a lack of money.

What we want to do in order to improve life in the village is finish building this medical centre: the dispensary and the doctor's  houses.

Your support makes it possible for us to construct a working dispensary and give people from the village access to quality health care.

our mission

Your donation will make the construction of a health centre in rural Tanzania possible. The living conditions of the Maasai inhabitants will improve dramatically after the inauguration of the hospital; which will be built during the summer of 2018.
